GROWING SMARTER TOGETHER

Join the Community

Welcome to Keeping Teachers

There are moments in our career when we feel like an island, not sure of ourselves, and maybe even contemplate leaving the classroom or education altogether. We all have different experiences in our schools all around the world, but one thing remains constant, we need support!

The work and aim for Keeping Teachers was imagined during Covid. The impact of school disconnection, the lack of support and confusion teachers felt, and the political unrest that leached into classrooms around the globe are felt by all of us. Most alarming to me and my own call to action to open the Keeping Teachers community is how many teachers are making the hard decision to leave their careers behind because it was “just not worth it”. Teaching is worth it, teachers are worth it, and taking the time to be part of a community that reminds you of why you are here is worth it too.

Here’s What I Want You to Know: • You are in control of your career! Let’s cultivate those skills you have to find best fits and stretch you beyond what you think you know about yourself as a teacher. • There is support out there! If you are in a work environment that might not feel like the right fit, Keeping Teachers will provide a safe space and thought partners to help you figure out what you really want out of teaching and how to leverage it for a long-term career. • Change is the constant we can always count on. Let’s lean on each other to navigate the currents and trends in education and move our mindsets to embrace change rather than rage against it. • Being a teacher can be both a passion and a career. This can often muddy the waters and emotional connection to our jobs. Keeping Teachers provides some no-nonsense tactical approaches to thriving as a teacher and finding your community whether inside or outside your school’s brick and mortar. And finally • You can do hard things... But not everything has to be hard.

What is

Keeping Teachers?

Keeping Teachers is a community for teachers, teacher leaders, and administrators. The content supports all facets of teaching like professional development and job satisfaction but also supports efforts like mentoring, investing your money wisely, and how to grow your own professional portfolio outside the confines of your own school or classroom.

The vision is to have a support network of educational leaders supporting teachers and giving sound support and advice past just teachers supporting each other. Keeping Teachers will be curated on themes that will dig deep into the nuances of what it means to be a teacher for life and how the entire educational community has an obligation to ensure we hire and retain strong, well-trained professionals.

Lyndi Hoffman (2nd Grade Teacher at Lincoln Orchard Mesa Elementory School)

I had the privilege of teaching under Leia Kraeuter as my principal for the first four years of my career. Her passion for eduction set a strong example for her staff. Leia gave guidance and advice while at the same time asking me to stretch my self, make hard decisions and trust my own decisions. She played a tremendous role in helping me grow into the educator I am today.

I have had the pleasure to witness how Leia's authentic, genuine, and approachable leadership style has fostered a culture shift within her staff over a short period of time. Her direct and clear, yet thoughtful and flexible approach helps teachers both understand the what and why but also includes them in the how. Leia is an exemplar leader in that she works with urgency and determination while also bringing humor, kind-heartedness, and positivity to the hard work of teaching and learning.
